Tungsten lamp, WL type, cross-referenced to 885-1200. A tungsten source covers the visible range, so it fails where a deuterium lamp does not: rising noise and drifting photometric accuracy above roughly 350 nm while the UV end stays clean. Tungsten dims gradually rather than failing outright, which is why it tends to be discovered during a calibration check rather than during a run. If your problem is below 350 nm, this is the wrong lamp and you want the deuterium one.

This lamp has no RFID chip. Some detectors read a chip to log lamp hours. On those, an untagged lamp reports a tag error and will not ignite until you set the lamp type manually, and you reset the lamp-hours counter yourself afterwards. It runs normally once that is done. What that involves. If you would rather have the chipped version, say so and I will quote that instead.

Before you order: if the instrument is misbehaving, tell me the symptom, not the part number. Lamps and seals get replaced for problems they did not cause. The first look costs nothing, and if this part is not the fix, I will say so.

Deuterium lamp for Hitachi LC variable wavelength detectors, cross-referenced to 890-2430 and 892-2550. Two numbers are listed against this position because the detector appeared in more than one configuration, so read the label on the lamp you are removing. A variable wavelength detector only shows you the wavelength you asked for, so a lamp can be well down at 210 nm while your 254 nm method looks untouched. Run the energy test rather than trusting the chromatogram.

Aftermarket deuterium lamp for the Waters 2489 and 2998, cross-referenced to 201000281. The 2489 runs at set wavelengths and the 2998 reads the full spectrum, and the same lamp serves both. On either detector, deuterium output falls fastest in the deep UV, so a method running at 210 nm loses sensitivity long before one running at 254 nm does. This detector expects a lamp carrying an RFID tag. The chip is listed in the specification above, and it is worth confirming before you order, because a chipless lamp can be refused by the instrument.

Deuterium lamp for Waters 996 and 2996 PDA detectors

Deuterium lamp for the Waters 996 and 2996 photodiode array, cross-referenced to WAT052586. A PDA reads the whole spectrum at once, which is what makes lamp ageing visible earlier here than on a fixed wavelength detector: pull up a 3D plot and you can watch the deep UV end go noisy while 254 nm still looks fine. Use that before ordering. If the noise is flat across the whole spectrum rather than worst below 250 nm, the lamp is not what is wrong.

Power supply for Waters 2489 HB lamp

Power supply for the Waters 2489 high brightness lamp, cross-referenced to 700002785. This is the part to consider when a new lamp has not fixed the fault. The high brightness lamp needs its supply to strike and hold it, and a failing supply gives you a lamp that will not light, or one that lights and then goes unstable, both of which look identical to a dead lamp from the front panel. If you have already fitted a new lamp and nothing changed, order this rather than a second lamp.
