Lamp for the Beckman DU730, cross-referenced to A23778. The DU730 is a routine life science bench, used mostly for nucleic acid and protein quantitation at fixed wavelengths rather than for full spectra. That matters, because a lamp can be well past its best at 260 nm while a 595 nm assay still reads normally, and nobody notices until the A260/A280 ratios start drifting. If your ratios have moved and your samples have not, read the lamp hours before you re-prepare anything.

Deuterium lamp for the P/ACE MDQ and PA 800, cross-referenced to 144-667. This is a capillary electrophoresis detector rather than a spectrophotometer, and the optical path is a window burned in the capillary itself, which is a very short path length. That makes the instrument unusually sensitive to lost lamp output: sensitivity falls before the baseline looks bad. If your peak heights have dropped and the migration times are unchanged, check the lamp energy before you replace the capillary, which is the more expensive guess.

Deuterium lamp for Shimadzu UV-Vis spectrophotometers

Deuterium lamp for the Shimadzu UV-Vis bench, cross-referenced to 062-65055-05. These are double beam instruments, which hides lamp ageing for longer than a single beam does: the reference beam absorbs some of the drift, so by the time the baseline looks wrong the lamp is usually well past its useful output. The tell is noise creeping up below 250 nm while the visible range still looks clean. Run the instrument's own energy or lamp history check before ordering, and if the noise covers the whole scan the lamp is not your problem.

Deuterium lamp for the UV-1800 and UV-1900, cross-referenced to L6302-40. These benches keep a lamp hour counter, and it is worth reading before you diagnose anything, because a lamp left on continuously accumulates hours far faster than the number of samples suggests. Many labs never switch the source off between runs. If the counter is low and the UV end is still noisy, suspect a dirty cuvette or a fouled window before the lamp. Reset the counter after fitting, or the next person inherits a number that means nothing.
